We got the party started with Moo, Freak Show, Hippy Chick
& Cheese Please on our 1,0000000000000 annual pumpkin carve. Freak Show
made us the BEST sausage in the world cuz he uses a cast iron skillet.
Spotty Chop had a lot of fun playing with the puppy.
We carved our hearts out
(even if hippy chick abandoned us to take photos on OUR OWN
).
This was Spotty Chop's first all by himself with no help (well, maybe Boy Toy helped cut the top off, that's always the hardest.) - Frankenstein!
This was my favorite - Cheese Please did it
So hippy chick abandoned us, but luckily CIS was there to save the day!
Hey I'm only a month late. Spotty Chop is back to school! He loves his new teacher. He loves having his best friends in class with him. What more can you ask for?
We went camping down the Cape this past weekend with Moo,
Freak Show, Cheese Please and Cheez-It Hippy Chick (CIHC). On the ride down there was…traffic, and I
realized that the only time we have been to Sweetwater was during Columbus Day,
when most people have stopped camping. I was hoping I didn’t make a grave error
in judgment as I had no idea what the campground would be like with lots of
people in it. Luckily the camping gods were with us and we had a great time. It wasn’t Fransted
great, but being closer means we may get to go camping with certain people more
often. Moo & family recently got a new dog and it was Puppy’s first time camping. We think she may have had
a bit of fun.
Spotty Chop is still very skittish as he is afraid that when
she jumps her claws and teeth are going to
hurt, but the more he is around her the more comfortable he is getting. Boy
toy and I love her claw and teeth marks and
see them as a badge of honor. Puppy has been going to training classes and we
got to watch some of the training up close. Puppy is a wicked SMAHT dog, and it
was a lot of fun seeing what goes into training one.
We rented canoes and splashed our way around the pond
(Moo loves having her picture taken )
Spotty decided to sleep in the car BY HIMSELF this weekend.
I can’t Frelling believe that I did not snap A SINGLE PHOTO OF HIM IN HIS COZY
NEST. He is thinking that he should have his own tent for Labor Day camping….
The first night he woke up after 1am, wandered around the campsites realized we
were all asleep and got back into the car and went back to sleep.
ME: “You could have come into the tent with us”
Spotty: laughing “I
didn’t want to”
Who the hell is this child and what has he done with Spotty?!
Cheese Please was on a mission to enjoy camping with her
Cheez-It sister. I didn’t get a lot of shots with the two of them, but she made
sure that CIS was very active during the camping trip.
Hippy Chick tried to bring Potato Chip Cheese Please (PCCP)
to the beach with her, but the level of effort on her part was disappointing.
We also had a terror alert. Spotty asked if he could run up
to the camp store and buy something, we said sure and off he went.
Boy toy comments “it’s not like him to be this long – do you
want me to check?”
Does a bear shit?
Boy toy went off and a little later he comes back saying “he
wasn’t at the store, he wasn’t at the video arcade”. I start to panic. Is he
lost and crying (the campground is huge, there are some sections we have never
been in, it always takes me till the day we leave before I know where I am
going.) Moo tells me to breathe. Boy Toy
and I head out again to see if we can find him. Long story short he was fine.
He didn’t get lost. On his way to the store he had to go to the bathroom and
then he went to the store. Freak Show found him. As I was wandering around
trying to find/hear him and slowly going crazy with the thoughts that some
serial rapist/killer had dragged him into one of the unknown sections of the
campground I saw Freak Show walking quickly in the distance. Seeing him
reminded me that we weren’t alone, Moo/Freak Show/Cheese Please/Puppy were with
us, and would help us until we got Spotty Chop back. I am
usually a great person to be around in a crisis. I am able to hold it together
until the crisis passes (and then I meltdown), but I have a feeling I will not
be so good when it involves Spotty. I have never been so scared. And as a
parent you are going to have several of these “never been so scared” moments,
but Christ on a Cracker. I NEVER want to be in that position again.
Spotty Chop was pretty sad that we had to go home so soon.
Cheese Please distracted him by letting him assist her in making a
pancake breakfast for all of us. Tasty cakecakes (again with no photos, I am
not sure what was up with my brain this weekend)!
This past weekend we had our annual apple pickingpalooza.
The usual people were there:
Moo – bossy as ever
Hippy Chick – I may need to change her name to kodachrome
Freak Show – need I say more?
CR – he can leap tall trees in a single bound
Cheese Please – who did her best not to khill me when I was
describing the last episode of Avatar that we saw
My boys –
The trees at Honey Pot seem to be VERY picked over. Not that
it stopped us from getting perfect apples.
One of Spotty’s favorite things to do when he is here are
the mazes and this year Honey pot unveiled a new one “The green monster”. When we
got to the green monster it was about 4:30pm and the sky had turned from blue
to black. After Spotty and Boy Toy went through Moo overheard the attendant say
“I know what time it is, but I just didn’t want to say no.” Apparently the big
maze is supposed to close at 4pm. Spotty would have been so disappointed if he couldn't go through it. I love running across teenagers in jobs where they have the
ability to help kids out or toe the company line. Sometimes it’s at arcades
where someone will give the kid a prize they really want, even if they don’t
have enough tickets. Sometimes it’s at a place like this where perhaps they recall what it was like to be a kid. I always think “thank God there is hope for humanity.”
There was also (we think) an air show
going on. We got to see some pretty cool planes.
Once the apples were picked and the mazes were mazed we
headed back to Moo clans fortress of dorkitude. Where they fed us great food,
and let Spotty entertain them with his death defying circus act (that I took no
photos of whatsoever…I think I hate my camera). Moo and Spotty went on a nighttime
hunt of things to put on pizza, like Basil, chives, peppers and…strawberries.
We were also sent home with cans of LOVE. Peach marinade and peach preserves, and
PEAR STUFF!!!! Moo makes this pear sweet liquid gold that this time is actually
a jelly and I bet is just as good as the liquid gold although Moo doesn’t think
so. There were a bunch of other canned goods that I will have to take a look at.
My brain stopped working after I saw I got a jar of PEAR GODness.
So Moo said we complained about the trees last time we went,
and that may possibly be true as last year’s trip seemed to be the same weekend
as this year’s trip. So apparently we need to go apple picking in September…perhaps
before labor day? Which to me seems like an abomination…I guess we will have to
see. We did get pears this time and approximately 20 bags of donuts. Spotty has
decided that he likes them, but not the sugar ones (whose son is he?) As long
as there are apples in September (Moo also says that we used to do the apple
picking in September, but I do not believe her, I can find no September
evidence) and the Moo clan we will be fine.
I don't know if anyone was reading back in '08. But we have a mystery at our house! It has been about 3 years since we last heard from our anonymous friend. Someone that knew me in high school (and knew Boy Toy) has been sending me postcards from around the world. They bring up very specific things about me/us. We have no idea who it is. It may be multiple people. And our last one was so very long ago. I occasionally feel bad because I am not sure who it is, but we have been having so much fun trying to figure it out.
But now they are back! and in Switzerland! They tell me they are swimming and walking every day, and practicing their French. They wonder if I remember how badly they spoke French.
What is really bizarre is that the 3rd time I read the post card (it is a puzzle that has stumped us...) I wondered if it could be an old boy friend of mine (and it would have to be REALLY OLD as Boy Toy and I have been together for....25? 26 years?) Well I say to Boy Toy I wonder if it could be "BU" and he says "Are you kidding me? That is exactly who I thought of when I read it". I haven't thought of BU in...YEARS and I can't imagine Boy Toy has either (i think there was a boy or two between BU and Boy Toy.)
Whoever itis seems to think of me fondly and that brightens my day.
We celebrated Spotty Chop’s birthday a while back. The kids
bowled, played laser tag, video games and had the extra crunchy bonus of
dancing and watching Power Rangers SUPER SMAURAI.
There was early morning drama
when I went to pick up the cake and it wasn’t even started, and then when it
was done, it wasn’t what I had asked for…(note to self, have cake ready an hour
or 2 before you need it). But that was the only hitch in an otherwise fabulous
day. And the Kids? They thought it was the coolest cake EVER.
Oh there were presents too!
He loved everything he got. In fact I think he’s played more
with the stuff he got for his birthday, than he does with the stuff he got for
Christmas. So far the dual blade light saber, the Dagedars and being able to
dress up as a Power Ranger are in heavy rotation. Although the punch balloon’s
that we put in the goody bags are a big hit. I think I’ve chased him through
the house with them for hours. I can’t believe my baby is 7!
