What did you just say?

Back in 2009 I got my hearing checked. Primarily because Boy Toy wouldn’t shut up about my not listening to him.  Well funny thing. Apparently I had some hearing loss. They wanted me to schedule an appointment with a doctor and blah blah blah. I never did anything about it because it seemed as if the only person I couldn’t hear was Boy Toy. And really was that such a bad thing?

Fast forward to now. I made another appointment, but this time made sure I was also seeing the doctor after the hearing test. Why? Spotty Chop tells me he loves me all the time. Lately I can’t understand what he is saying. When he needs me and he calls out for me I don’t respond, because I don’t hear him call me. I can’t even tell you how horrible it is to realize that you aren’t hearing your kid tell you he loves you. My sadness knows no bounds.

So what happened? I had a hearing test. My results were not “normal”. Well, as the technician said “you having hearing loss this young isn’t normal to begin with, but the graph of your hearing loss isn’t normal either. “

In “normal” hearing loss it looks like this.

As  you age your ability to hear high pitched sounds (including consonants)  decreases. But this generally doesn’t start until your late 60’s or 70’s

This is what mine looks like.

We can see that I can hear the low pitches as well as the high pitches. It the middle stuff that is all wonky. Basically I can’t hear vowels. Unless they are loud enough.  Apparently vowels aren’t as important as consonants because consonants convey most of the word info and they act as breakpoints for syllables. Which is why this hasn’t really affected me too badly up until now.

So what does this mean? I have to get hearing aids. Both ears. I am less than pleased about this outcome. It pretty much blindsided me.

I have been a bit freaked out by this, but I am slowly coming to terms with it.  I mean
 a) it’s not the end of the world and
 b) good fucking god things could be so much worse.  I have a couple of friends that are dealing with an unimaginable amount of hurt right now. Hurt that I wouldn’t wish on too many people (there are a couple though…) so as I so often say “suck it up buttercup” it is what it is.

There is good news though.
a)It is genetic, but not hereditary, so I won’t pass this on to Spotty.
b)  I have only lost 5-10 decibels since 2009, so the loss is going kinda slow
c) There is also some really promising research going on right now with stem cells. They think within the next 50 years there may be a treatment for this that would regrow auditory hair cells. This is cool because currently there is no treatment for this type of hearing loss. It can’t be cured.

So it looks like I will be wearing my hair down a lot more often in the future.  God DAMN it now I will be dealing with frizzy hair too. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh

A WTF moment

So I went food shopping today, after work, at the supermarket I go to at least once a week. I was just about done, full cart. I just needed  to grab a small ham (Spotty has decided he will eat a ham sandwich if I cook the ham), and some ice cream sandwiches. The area was crowded so I pulled my cart to the side and walked 5 or 6 steps to grab the ham. I grabbed my ham and went back to my cart....but where oh where was my cart? Perhaps I didn't leave it next to the tomatoes, so I went and looked next to the bananas, then the tomatoes again and then the carrots. Then I went back to the bread isle, the gingerale isle. I went to the ice cream isle in case I had momentarily gone insane and picked up the ice cream first instead of the natural order of things (last). I went back to the produce isles and went up and down cursing at times WTF did my carriage go? I called Boy Toy (to make sure he wasn't actually at the store and just fucking with me). He suggested I go to the front of the store to see if someone was checking out with my stuff.  I then went through every isle. Then I went to the employees and they went to the loudspeaker and asked "dear shoppers please take a look at your shopping cart. If its the wrong one please bring it back to the produce department. I waited, and cursed some more and then I said F this.

So I grabbed the ham (for tomorrow) some lettuce and tomatoes (for BLTs tonight) and some ice cream sandwiches for always.

If it had been better living through chemistry I would have understood, but apparently I will be  back tomorrow for the rest of the items...

Happy New Year! NO NUTS FOR YOU!

My God do we have a lot to catch up on (if you have already heard the drama scroll down to the bottom for photos)

We had a dramastical New Year's Eve. We had plans to hang out with JMan and family, Spotty Chop couldn't wait. But wait he had to...My parents give Boy Toy pistachios or some form of nut every Xmas. Since I am allergic to tree nuts  I don't buy them, I won't die if they are in the house, but even before my allergy kicked in, I wasn't a huge nut fan (unless they were swimming in chocolate). So Boy Toy is eating nuts and Spotty Chop says "can I try"? So we said sure. After he had 2 I told him to stop for a minute (he really liked them). Because of my allergy I wanted to make sure that he didn't have a problem. In less than a minute he started to complain that his tongue itched, then he said his throat felt funny. I ran to get Benadryl. By the time I got back to him (I live in a ranch it wasn't more than a minute) he had hives around his mouth and eyes. Spotty started to freak a bit, which is totally understandable. I am sure he was picking up our vibe, even though we were trying to play it totally cool I was REALLY nervous that his reaction came on so swift for so few nuts. So I called the emergency line and spoke with a doc. I again got a bit more nervous as they didn't take my info and call me back, they ran and got someone to speak to me right away. I explained the situation, my history, what we did and how he was and the doc said "you are doing everything right", nervous tears start to flow. They told us to keep an eye on him for 45 minutes and if he didn't get worse he would be fine. I guess Anaphlaxis happens within that time period. BUT if his tongue or lips started to swell or if he started vomiting we needed to call 911. I can deal with that, except a few minutes after I hung up Spotty started complaining of feeling sick. So Boy Toy and I did the....do we go to the ER or don't we dance, is he feeling sick because he is about to go into shock or is he just traumatized?

I won't leave you in suspense. Spotty is fine. At the 40 minute mark his hives had disappeared and by 45 minutes he felt great and was ready to go out. So out we went and had a lovely night. The boys played on their DS's till their eyeballs bled and we hung out at a bonfire.

The next day we decided to go sledding. I of course after last years incident wanted to have nothing to do with it. But the boys insisted so I went and took a photo or two...

Some Older boys were "snowboarding" with their sleds. Spotty wanted to try

I can't get either of them to stop sledding. They go every chance they get. Hell they even dragged my dad with them last weekend while I was getting my hair done.

So what did you do last night?

Here in Massachusetts (I love spelling out the name of my state, kind of crazy, but it makes me happy . MA- SSA-CHU-SE- TTS. Actually now that I am singing it, it has a similar cadence as my last name. Who knew?

It was a crazy night. I was playing a video game (I sometimes get in 15-20 minutes before I go pick up Spotty Chop. Yes, I could get him earlier, but he always asks if he can stay longer so he can play with his friends, I don’t mind so we usually end up staying until the last kid is shipped out.) Anyways, I was playing Harvest Moon, and as I believe I have mentioned ,not even my profile, but Spotty’s profile that I deleted accidently and now am trying to get him back to where he was, when I saw the cable box flashing ERC (our emergency channel thingy) I thought it was a test. I had trouble at first understanding what I was seeing, there was a tornado warning (not watch) and when it switched back to the news a man was showing us a picture of where the projected path of the tornado was going and funny, it was headed our way. I grabbed food, water, blankets and big pillows and put them next to the basement door. Then I drove like crazy to get Spotty. I spoke to the head counselor and asked if she had heard about the tornado, she had and in fact the director had called earlier to tell them to find an emergency safe spot, which she had. I know where it is and it’s as good a spot as I would have picked. I am very glad they had a plan and were ready to implement at a moment’s notice. I felt much better once I had my hands on my boy. As we drove home I explained to Spotty that we would not be able to play video games or watch TV right away and proceeded to tell him about the Tornado. I asked him if he knew what a tornado was and he said it’s a big wind that can crush houses. I told him that I had a safe place for us in the basement and that I was going to gather stuff so that we could be down there and keep safe. He said he would get his toys together so we could play. I also told him that it was super important that he listen to me and if I said “get to the basement” he needed to run to the basement without arguing or stopping to get anything. Once we got to the house I started bringing everything to the basement including books because you need books to get you through any sort of adversity. Unfortunately our basement has turned into a…shit hole, ok maybe not that bad, but we store lots of crap down there and since the bad flooding of last year there is more stuff that is unorganized so it was a bit of a challenge to navigate quickly behind the bar. Once everything was in place I told Spotty to come on down, I had put down a featherbed and had lots of floor pillows and blankets and several lanterns so we were quite cozy. Our house phone didn’t work, and of course my crackberry doesn’t get reception in the house which meant that I could see that Boy Toy and my parents were trying to call me, but I was unable to pick up the phone to get a connection. Boy Toy did eventually manage to get through once to see if we were ok and to say he was coming home as fast as he could. He has some kind of “weather alert system” on his phone, which makes sense as he works out doors, but it showed him that there was a lot of violent activity where we lived and he worried. At one point Spotty asked if we were going to die. I told him I had no plans on dying, and that we would be ok.

Long story short, we were fine, the tornado never actually came our way, we were able to sleep in our own beds.

God Damn you folks in the mid-west, how the hell do you do it? That was some scary as shit stuff there, I am glad this happens only once or twice every 50 years. I can’t imagine how scary it would have been had the tornado actually touched down where we were.

Springfield MA, snaps to you! I hope you never again have to go through something like that.

Forgot to add -- I was emailing one of my colleagues in London this morning and told him what went on last night. After saying he was glad everyone was ok said:

We had some quite heavy rain at the weekend. I had to turn the radio up as I was sitting in the conservatory reading. All very annoying. Max asked if a thunderstorm was coming. It wasn’t.

I almost wet myself laughing.

Good God am I in Trouble

Yesterday, Spotty Chop and his father come into the house after a Home Depot run. I hear Spotty stomping towards me and as he is walking into his bedroom (where I was folding laundry) I hear "MAMA, What do YOU mean you didn't marry Dada? YOU can't be living together!" indignant and with righteous anger.

"Oh baby", I said, "your daddy and I have been together for longer than most, if not all of your friends parents. We love each other and just didn't feel like getting married."

"Well, I don't know, I have to think about this, you shouldn't be in the same house."

So I go to Boy Toy "what the fuck!" and he laughing says "he asked me on the ride home if we had a good wedding and I said 'if you say so' and then he asked if we were even married and I told him he had to ask you."

THIS ladies and gentlemen is WHY I never married the asshat.

Remembering my Roomie

I got a present in the mail

It came with this card

Remembering Roomie
This wreath is made from sweaters Roomie used to wear
They were cut into pieces with loving care,
By Sis, her sister, who loved her so
And wanted a remembrance of her to go
On your Christmas tree each year
To make you smile – now don’t shed a tear,
She is up in heaven with her father she loved,
They are watching down upon us from up above.
When you celebrate Christmas, please keep her in mind
As joyful reminders we try to find
Of days gone by that we shared with Roomie
Filled with good times that we have all seen.

Miss ya kiddo!

2004 Jeep Liberty engines SUCK… Or what I have been doing since I last posted

A couple of weekends ago I was excited to talk about the Big Apple Circus. We brought Spotty Chop. He seemed to really enjoy himself.

Although we had a lot more fun trying to get our car out of the garage. They kept bringing us the wrong vehicle. At least 2 different Jeeps…at one point boy toy and I were laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes. Everyone else waiting for cars seemed nervous. It was all good. While driving home the oil light came on. We needed gas anyways so we stopped to fill it and pour a quart in. The oil light kept coming on…>

Early Monday morning I was awoken to boy toy praying to the porcelain god. Apparently he wasn’t going to work. Spotty and I did our morning thing and hopped into the car. We were listening to Peter Pan unabridged (the original). About 15 – 20 minutes from the house when I heard something. I shut the CD off, Spotty was not happy. But then the car started to…hiccup…I decided to pull into a parking lot to see what the heck was going on and in the middle of my turn the car shut off. Luckily I had enough momentum to get into the parking lot and into a space.

Did I mention that it was the first day with a new boss????

I wrote to Auntie D who had #3 give me a call, he said have it towed to his house (about 3 minutes away) and we would see what was what. I left a message with my new boss that I wouldn’t be in and called boy toy to come rescue us. Boy toy came, pissed off because he had been telling me for months to go get an oil change and now this is the second fing time you have blown an engine because you don’t change the oil! He tossed me his AAA card and then left with Spotty to bring him to school.

I had NO emergency book in the car (I went to NY the week before and forgot a book for the flight so I grabbed it and forgot to replace it.) THE HORROR!

The tow truck eventually came, boy toy was back by then, we brought it to #3’s went home and I went to bed. That’s right at about 10:00am I was so stressed out that I went to bed until about 3:00. Woke up, we drove to 1) get Spotty and 2) pick up my mom’s car.

Later that night #3 called us to say “hey did you know that apparently there is a problem with 2004 Jeeps motors?” Boy toy took the pterodactyl out of his butt.

I wish I could tell you I have my Jeep back, but I don’t, these motors are flying off the shelves right now. We had one, but the RAT FINK MUTHER FUCKING BASTARDS sold it because they couldn’t wait the half a day it was going to take for #3 to get there with CASH! So they are rebuilding me a new one. I borrowed my mom’s car for a week, rented a car for a week and now since my folks are now in FL I have their cars for another week. Word of advice; don’t rent the cheapest car you can possibly find after driving a tricked out Honda…it’s not comfy…

We also had a carnival set up about 3 min from our house, we spent several days there. Do you think anyone had fun?

I visited with my Jeep yesterday, asked how she was feeling. She would like this over and done with, she wants to come home.

I know I have a few letters to Spotty that I need to get done. I have read 4 books since walking away from the eeeevile Facebook gaming empire. Hopefully I am back on track.
Although I feel like someone up there is laughing at me. Boy Toy finally has a job after being out of work for a year, the taxes come in and we have started digging ourselves out of the pit of doom we have been living under with only one paycheck (unemployment ran out several months ago)…and now this. I know we are SO fortunate. WE only spent one night shop vacing the basement and only lost 1 or 2 boxes during all of the flooding. WE kept our house; WE always are able to put food on the table; Spotty Chop is HEALTHY and HAPPY. But Damit Janet I wanted to start moving ahead again, I started thinking of maybe the Jersey Shore in October…oh well, as a famous man once said “shut up and soldier soldier!”

Where the $%&C(NG HELL IS MY MUTHER $%&C(NG BOOKS!!!

So, haven’t posted any book related posts lately huh? There is a reason for this. I keep losing the FRELLING books I am reading. I am not the type of person who reads more than one book at a time. It just doesn’t work for me. I like starting a book, reading it all the way through, and then starting another one.

Since before Christmas (CHRISTmas folks!) I have misplaced the book “Lost” (HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA kill me). I finally broke down and read another book, finished it, started another book…and lost that FRELLING piece of shit too! A diskworld novel…So now I have 2 books MIA! I keep trying to pick up another book, but I have a deep fear that I will now lose EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER READ!!!!!!

I did just cash in a gift certificate to Amazon, so hopefully the lure of the new book will call me back…

MERGE MUTHER Fer MERGE

Why oh why is this such a foreign concept to all? If you are driving a car in a place where other cars may also be driving and you are going from 2 lanes to 1, let one car in. You don’t have to be a martyr, just let one car go. Because if you do and if everyone knew that everyone would let one car go we wouldn’t have ASSHATS passing on the shoulder because they just want to get on the Fing highway. We wouldn’t be stuck in 30 minutes of traffic because god forbid someone let someone else in front of them thereby making them .07 seconds later than they would have been if they were in front.

On another note, if you are driving your brandy new Lexus and you need to leave a 2-7 car buffer around you at all times BUY A FRELLING DIFFERENT CAR.

I know you want to cut in front of me, I know you think you have more important places to be than I do, but honestly I don’t think so. I know I am not up the ass of the person in front of me, and I don’t think they want you there either.

You are not driving a duck tour bus, you do NOT need two lanes to drive. Pick one and move the hell over.

If you leave enough space between you and the next car that allows not one but two 18 wheelers to cut in front of you, YOU ARE NOT DRIVING FAST ENOUGH.

If you can’t figure out that in a four way stop sign everyone must take turns, perhaps you should go back to kindergarten.

GET OFF THE PHONE for the love of Christ!

If I am in the slow lane doing 75, riding on my ass because you want to go faster will not work .Trust me.

Are you in line for the tolls? Are you more than 2 cars away? FIND YOU FRELLING MONEY YOU MORE-ON, don’t wait until you are up there and then look for it.

To Recap: MERGE, STOP TALKING, BUY A DIFFERENT CAR, SPEED THE F up and slow the F down!

Kisses

We come from the land of the ice and snow...

A year ago Saturday my Roomie passed away.

In college there were 3 of us that were deep into Arthurian legend and things most mystical. The Tiny Pagan Ladies.

When “the Other” and I first found out in August the Roomie was ill we thought. “naw, she’s being dramastical” because we refused to accept anything else.

When a mass was found we thought “screw you mass! We are the tiny ladies and your arse will be kicked. We will have none of you sir! GOOD DAY!”

Later when we were in the hospital room visiting and found out that we had a year we said “Fuck you year, we want more and we will fight with tooth and claw because we love you and don’t want you to go”. Roomie mentioned that she wanted a Viking funeral. She wanted the burning ship and the lamenting of the women. And we said “of course, if you ever die, which you won’t bitch cauz you are on THE LIST. People on THE LIST will die when we tell them they can die and not a moment sooner.“

When I was getting ready to bring the Roomie to her first chemo appointment in October. I got a call from the sister. We didn’t have a year. We didn’t have months. We would be lucky if we got weeks. The chemo might kill her sooner, so she was going home to die.

On Friday October 17th I went to the Roomies house. I had the day off and wanted to read to her. I used to read to her before we went to bed in college. She said she hated the crap I read, but loved to listen to it anyways. I brought Storm Front. The First Dresden book. I knew I had a captive audience. I knew I could make her laugh.

They were getting her ready to take a shower. I told her to hurry her ass up we had reading to do. She laughed. I sat down and played with her kids. A – 5 and F – 2. While we were playing I started to hear commotion. People were running, voices were raised. I kept playing with the kids. They wanted to run around the house, see their mommy and dad, their grand mom and dad, their aunts. F escaped and I ran to grab him. I think I shielded him from seeing anything. No one should see their mommy on the floor. I kept the kids occupied while she was slipping away. The hospice nurse came out after awhile so I could say good bye too.

There was a typical Catholic wake and funeral….Well…we did send her off the best way we knew how. The Roomie’s family told us to meet at the funeral home as the family was going to go to the church together and we WOULD be there. When we (the Other, Laser, Boy Toy and me) got there we were alone. We of course thought that we screwed up the time, but that was ok. The other and I told the Roomie off. “What the hell are you thinking leaving us bitch? Who the hell do you think you are?” and we sang our theme song.

Don’t all friends have a theme song?

As the last note died down. Everyone else showed up. God is good. The Other and I promised each other that whoever went next would get the same send off.

A year later, we drove down to CT to give the Roomie the funeral she always wanted. Laser was working late. Thank God Boy Toy was up for building a Viking ship. He spent hours on making this authentic, knowing all the while that we planned on burning it.

He did a great job. The Roomie I am sure was pleased.

We followed the ceremony as closely as we could. Which means of course that we needed to sacrifice a virgin.

Boy Toy kept watch (Laser was kind enough to watch the wee ones)

The ceremony begins...on a deserted beach, with hurricane winds, open containers of strong spirits and sharp pointy objects...because we love...we love

Naysayers may say "there was no wind, you got it to burn". The reason for this my friends is that not only is Boy Toy a ship builder. He has fire magic.

Our work here is done

Let the gods and goddesses tremble. Fling open the gates of Valhalla. A great warrior has come to reside with you. Tremble. And fear those yet to come.

Book Review: if i am missing or dead

This is a story of two sisters, and a lifetime of abuse. It’s an insiders peek into how this sort of thing might happen. How what you experience in childhood really can affect what happens to you and how you grow up.

At times it is funny and other times so brutally sad you want to vomit. Many will wonder why don’t they just leave? Others will understand that life is sometimes complicated.

Regardless, this is a story that should - no must be heard. If not for you, maybe for a friend, a stranger, a co-worker.

And while you’re thinking, think upon this: 1 in 4 women will be abused in her lifetime.

Go to Maggie’s and cheer on a survivor.

Volunteering is BAD

So someone needed to be in NY for two days. My colleague went for a day. My boss got hurt. I refused to let her go to the office at all. So I went to NYC. Lovely trip, got stuff done…but then there was the trip home.

I left the office at 2:30 to get to LaGuardia for a 4:00pm flight back to Boston. Got there with plenty of time to spare. And the 4:00 was cancelled due to weather. But since I got to the airport early I was able to get a great seat for the 5:00. I am sitting watching SG1 (season 7) when I realize that it is 4:30 and we should be getting on the plane soon.

5:45PM departure. Well, that’s not so bad. Around 5:00pm they cancel the 6:00. I am feeling a bit uneasy. At 5:30 they tell us the plane has not left Boston yet. At 5:45 they cancel the 5:00PM. 3 cancelled flights of people are trying to get onto the 7:00. It is still raining.

After 3 calls to rental car places I finally get through to one. I hop on the shuttle and pick up my car. I also pick up a GPS. Otherwise known as the Holy Grail. It doesn’t take me 95, but some back way that seriously saved me about 2 hours of driving time.

I was in bed snuggling Spotty chop by 9:30. Was asleep before 10:00.

Did I mention my car was still at the airport?

I fill the tank and drop off the car. I hop on the shuttle to the airport. I hop off the shuttle. I reach for my….keys….I call Boy Toy. I wait in wind for Boy Toy and Spotty to bring me my keys.

I drive home.

We have no snacks in the house…except for the Easter Basket

1 in 4...

Did you know that 1 in 4 women will experience some form of domestic violence in their lives? 1 in 4. Do you know 4 women? Have you seen 4 women on a bus, train or airplane? Seen 4 women while shopping, driving, walking, running?

We know that 4 out of 5 dentists prefer Trident. Why aren't we quoting 1 in 4? Is it because it's ugly, painful, shameful, disheartening, inconceivable?

I found this info thanks to Mojo. He is generally witty, charming and a pain in the ass all rolled into one. He is also helping promote a new website called Violence Unsilenced

Maggie from Okay, Fine Dammit is running things and is giving a voice to those that seem to have nothing else.

I have a button thingy and I am putting it on top so everyone who chances upon my blog will see it.

1 in 4.

Maybe the 1 will stumble on this and go there and realize she (or he) is not alone. Maybe you who are reading this now know of a 1 or think you do. Find out how to help. Because in saving the 1 you could save us all.

So…how you doing?

We have been having a swell time over at the beloved homestead. I worked from home last Thursday and around 1:00 pm I was talking to my boss who was in London, suddenly all the lights went out and my phone died. So I did what any normal person would do and said “hello hello? Are you there? Hello????” Spotty Chop came to tell me that the lights were out. So I wandered around the house making sure that it was all the lights and not just a blown circuit or something. I called up the electric company to see if they knew what was going on, and they said they would have a crew out right away.

I made another call to a co-worker on the crackberry, explaining that I had no electricity. As I was talking I realized that my new black out curtains really blacked out. I couldn’t see a Frelling thing. So I went towards the window. Unbeknownst to me Spotty had been playing with Boy Toy’s surveyor crap and had left the tripod in the middle of the floor. My foot got tangled. I fell. I yelled. My co-worker laughed. I took aspirin, and a few hours later I realized that I wrenched my back something FIERCE. Called Boy toy to see when he would be coming home. He said in an hour, so I told him what happened and that I needed to take a Vicoden.

1 Vike rarely does anything to me, but if I am home with Spotty I prefer having Boy toy around just in case. However as it takes at least an hour for me to notice that I took the frelling thing I felt confident that if anything were to kick in, he would be home. As I am waiting for him to come home I grab candles. Unfortunately all I can find are Yankee candles, ordinarily not a bad thing, but with darkness coming on I needed lots of candles, and wouldn’t you know that none of them were the same scent? So I don’t have enough candles, it is getting progressively darker, even with the blackout curtains open and the flashlight that I kept out of the camping bin expressly for a situation like this isn’t working, I tried changing the batteries but no luck. So I hobble downstairs and open the cabinets with the camping bins, did I mention that I was using a tea light to light my way? I put the tea light down and reach up (over my head) to grab the camping bin that I think I want. It is pitch black except for the TINY little tea light over in the corner. As I muscle the bin down something smashes me in the face. It is a queen size air mattress. I fall back and almost take another tumble, but this time with 20 or 30 lbs of camping crap on top of me. I may have cursed a bit. But I found a light, and our lantern. Which I know is propane and can’t be used in doors, but at this point I didn’t give a rat’s ass and figured we could open a window worst came to worst. I drag everything upstairs and realize that the house is still too frelling dark. So I get out some cake and bread pans and start lining up tea lights on the mantle and wood stove. Both of these are behind an iron gate so I do not need to worry about Spotty. I had just lit about 40 of them when…the lights came on. YEA. So I go around the house blowing out all of the candles. Boy Toy comes home, and about 4 hours after the first Vike which has done less than the aspirin I decide to take another one. This one settles the back pain down. BUT…WTF my right hand starts to hurt. I am up half of the night because my hand is ACHING. I REFUSE to take another Vike. They are not pez, I have a limited supply that I keep on hand for the kidney stones. Plus as an addictive person I am constantly questioning when I take them “Do I need it? Or just want it?” Boy Toy reminds me that I did fall, which is why my hand hurt, but for Frell’s sake. I took two Vikes, my hand should not hurt!
Why am I telling you this? Because my point was actually that we have not had internet since a week ago Thursday. But then I got distracted by my tale of woe. But the cable guys were out last night and…YEA internet

Good Bye Roomie

My college roommate died today.

I went to visit her this morning after I dropped off Spotty Chop. Funny thing is I almost didn’t. My kidney stones were making themselves know and I thought “well I have the day off, maybe I should just stay home”, then I thought “she has frelling cancer, that hurts a bit more, shut up and get your ass in gear.” So I drove to her house. When I got there the nurse was getting ready to get her up for a shower. Her mom told me to run in and say hi. Her hubby was in the room working. I gave her a kiss and said hey, I thought I would read to you (I used to read to her before we fell asleep back in the day) and she said that would be nice, she would like that. I told her to take her time, I wasn’t going anywhere. I went back to the kitchen grabbed the kids and started to play. I kept playing when I heard folks yelling for each other. I ran to grab the little dude (2) when he ran out of the room and out of the corner of my eye saw her on the floor. I kept the princess (5) busy playing camping even though she wanted to go potty. And then the nurse came and said she would watch the kids if I wanted to go in. I didn’t get what I was seeing. Everyone was crying. She was just slipping away.

Be at peace my friend.

God better Frelling enjoy the sox you are knitting for him

I love you
